Questions (FAQ)

faq-boxes-Dollarphotoclub_60600612-400pxQ. Who is Non-Smoker 4 Life designed for?

A. Non-Smoker 4 Life was specifically designed for students in Grades 3-6.

Q. How long does a Non-Smoker 4 Life show last?

A. The typical show runs between 50 and 60 minutes.

Q. How many students get to “help the magician” during the show?

A. Approximately 30 students will get an opportunity to participate in the show.

Q. How do you pick the volunteers?

A. I have two methods. I can either pick the volunteers during the show or, if you prefer, I could send your school a package of volunteer tokens about a week before the show starts. Teachers can give the tokens to their students as they see fit.

Q. What part of the school is the best venue for Non-Smoker 4 Life?

A. Non-Smoker 4 Life works best if it’s in the school’s gymnasium. This is because in one segment – the big race – we have one student run two laps around the gym. Also, the gym is typically the biggest room in the school, which makes it ideal for larger crowds.

Q. I have Grades 7 and 8 students in my school. Are they allowed to attend Non-Smoker 4 Life too?

A. Sure they can. Older students enjoy the show but since Non-Smoker 4 Life is designed specifically for younger students, I respectfully ask the Grades 7-8 students to simply watch the show and allow their younger schoolmates to be the volunteers.

Q. What about my kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students? Are they allowed to attend?

A. I recommend they don’t. I understand the desire to make school shows as all-inclusive as possible. However, in my experience, I’ve found that the very young students are not yet mature enough to fully appreciate the show . It’s for these reasons that I politely suggest the younger students remain in their classrooms during Non-Smoker 4 Life.

Q. There’s another elementary school nearby and they’d probably enjoy watching Non-Smoker 4 Life too. Is it alright if we bring in another school to join us?

A. Yes, although there is an additional nominal fee for each additional school.

Q. Do you have your own P.A. system?

A. I sure do.

Q. Do you have a police record check?

A. Yes, I do. I do not have a criminal record, and I will send you a copy of the police report upon request.

Q. How long does it take to set up the show?

A. I usually show up at the school about an hour before showtime. This gives me a chance to meet you and your staff and then get the show up and running.

Q. How long does it take to take down the show?

A. Between 30 and 45 minutes.

Q. What parts of the health curriculum are addressed in Non-Smoker 4 Life?

A. Non-Smoker 4 Life reinforces curricular outcomes that focus on healthy choices, the hazards and health consequences of tobacco products, the cardio-vascular and emotional benefits of a smoke-free lifestyle, strategies for resisting peer pressure, and the financial implications of a cigarette addiction.
