The NON-SMOKER 4 LIFE show was designed by professional magician, Steven Warburton, to discourage students in grades 3-6 from taking up smoking in later life.
The show runs about 55 minutes and is packed with audience participation. It includes several magic tricks built around four components that are designed to combine fun AND education:
THE BIG RACE
Demonstrates to students how smoking will affect them physically by destroying their ability to participate in sports.
Shows students how much money they would have to spend in order to support a regular smoking habit... and shows them the things they'd have to give up too.
A no-holds-barred display of all the harmful and poisonous chemicals that go into cigarettes.
THE GAME SHOW
In this game show sketch, students pick the reasons why they might decide to smoke in later life (peer pressure, displaying their independence)
and then shows them that maintaining good health is more important than any of these reasons.
After the show, the students are given the opportunity to take the "non-smoker for life" pledge. They are given pledge cards, asked to sign them, and take them home to their parents.
This fun and dynamic non-smoking show plays a vital role in persuading young people to say ‘no’ to cigarettes, thus saving untold personal suffering and millions in healthcare costs.
